Love & Death 02:42
Two maidens, two sisters, two beautiful twins Have haunted my life for many years. The one wore all white, the other all black. They lived in my hopes and my fears, They lived in my hopes and my fears. The younger one had a heart oh so light, She trembled, she cried, she rejoiced. She has never sinned, she was innocent, She loved and was loved in return, She loved and was loved in return. Her sister wore a dress that was color of night And every man feared her until They'd turn off the light, and she'd hold him tight, And take him where he's never been, And take him where he's never been. They dance and they cry, They sing and they smile, In silence where he's never been, In silence where he's always been. They come in my dreams and look in my eyes, They wonder what's holding me back From breaking the bind, and leaving behind My sorrows, my cries, my fears and my ties, And letting the world fall apart, And letting my world fall apart. And in little hopes, little fears, little dreams I don't live, I just dream that one day The lady in white, and her sister in black — The passion that burns, and the stillness of night Will take me along in the night, Will take me with them to the light. Your tearing eyes, your precious smile Have held this moment for a while. You are so close that I could feel Your heart, so far that I can't see Myself, so here that I could hear Your gentle whispers in my ear. A gentle flower in the rain, The world goes by and looks your way From moving cars, behind the glass In dry security they pass Locked up in boxes from the world They see the beauty as it's told. They say the words, they have the smile, They've done the motions for a while, They are so sharp, they cannot see Inside yourself, they only feel The cold of beauty as it's told . . . they hit the road. Don't mind me, I'm passing by. You thought you loved me at the time. I dare not hope that I could free Myself from you, that I could be With you, no more than I could hear Your gentle whispers in my ear Again. I hope that I could free Myself from you, that I could be With you no more, and never hear Your gentle whispers in my ear. Ojai, Jan.6.2006

(in Russian) In the land where the wind howls, Where the cold brings about sleep, Between the shining peaks, Stood a house all by itself. In this beautiful silence From the sky a bright crescent is shining, Snow is sparkling on the branches, Stars are glistening in heavens. On the snow-covered forest trail Lighted by the silvery glow of the stars Three snow flakes Are quietly whispering and singing What a wonder in the clear light One is more beautiful than the next Are flying by the window Of a lonesome house A black cat is sleeping by the fireplace, On the stove the kettle is boiling, The candle is burning and her fire Is quietly lighting the house... Gentle glow of the moon In the whispering night, Little steps through the leaves, Hand you're holding so tight. Little dream that we lived That is now in the past. Then it never would end, Now it ended too fast. Fingers picking the strings, Hands are stiff from the cold, And the warmth of your eyes On a desolate road Draws me into the dream Where we dance in the night By the desolate lamp In the desolate light. Through the cold of the night, Through the dreams that we fight, Through the rustling of leaves In the depth of the night, Through the troubles we see Coming up from our hearts Little flower of love Reaching up to the stars. The moon in shining, And the stars are staring down. Love is not hiding, But you've got to let it out. Ojai, Jan.15.2006

(in Russian) The coals of the bonfire are playing, The flame is burning, And the fairy tale of the sorrowful dream The old guitar started to sing. It will trick you once, trick you twice, Mesmerize you, and in the heart A vibrant string will sting. And in the dark, to burn to the ashes The soul's uneasy burden And to believe in this vividness of the dream In the fantasy's empty enchantment. Don't trust the string's sad cry, Don't trust the cruel lie, We're not allowed to dream, We can't afford to forget ourselves. But once having heard that pain, When the sorrow has gripped the heart I'm doomed to live with you From this day until the hour of death. Ojai, 2005

It's up to you to take a chance, Or slowly wait until it ends. To live whole life between four walls, Or spend a moment outdoors. How can you see a fate's design If you don't give it any time Of life so dull. How can this be? The question screams inside of me. I'm silent. Yet another chance Flies by before the moment ends. Will this one be the one you take? Or next one? Choose, for your own sake! The moment ended, chance is gone, The world is silent, you're alone. You're standing in an empty field, There is so much you wish you'd feel. You're breathing in the tasteless air As darkness crawls from everywhere. There is no moon, there are no stars, The only thing that's left is us. You scream—Give me another chance! But you hear nothing. Story ends. New Jersey, 2001

(in Russian) Destiny has brought us together for a moment, You never said any gentle words, And I was silent But in the heart something came to life. I'm indifferent, but unfortunately The heart thinks otherwise. While reading a letter from you, It is in bliss and tears. It's good to heard your voice, Through wind, blizzard and turmoil, So delicate and alive, How little we need for happiness. What is happening to my soul? The sky is bluer and air is sweeter, And the stars are shining in heavens — The glow of your taunting eyes. It's good to heard your voice, Through wind, blizzard and turmoil, So delicate and alive, How little we need for happiness. Ojai, Late Summer 2004

Half-step 02:37
She swore to me that she was very faithful As she took the last half-step out of my door, And in that moment I felt very grateful To life for bringing me to her As weeks went swinging by one after other, We talked for hours every single day, And then one day she said she saw another, And I collapsed upon my knees from pain. And for many days I'd cry, But what is I can't deny, Life goes by, life goes by. And broken up by weeks of constant sorrow, I mimicked that half-step out of my door, And there I saw an angel standing taller, More beautiful and stunning than before. I could not believe my eyes, But what is I can't deny, Life goes by, life goes by. She said more than just her name, She said, "I am here to stay And make your troubles go away." She swore to me that she was very faithful As she took the last half-step out of my door, And in that moment I felt very grateful To life for bringing me to her. And I know for days I'll cry, But what is I can't deny, Life goes by, life goes by. January, 2006

(in Russian) Sunset, and the night's shawl, All the shadows merged between themselves, The bright moon is rising And the mountain tops are glistening again. All around nothing is heard, And the silence with her beauty Is whispering a couple of words in the wind Heard by no other. And in those words there is sadness The dear heartfelt home is already far away All around is unknown vastness And in front of you is the road. Ojai, 2004
